Additional Linksys PLE200 PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter Information

The PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter lets you turn the existing powerlines in your home or office into a high-speed network. Now you do not have to drill through the walls and climb through the attic or cellar to install network cables -- just use the wires that already run through the building! The PowerLine AV Adapter interfaces Ethernet devices to the HomePlug AV PowerLine network standard. Just plug the PowerLine AV Adapter into the wall, and connect your Ethernet-equipped device to the Adapter using the included network cable, and you have turned your whole house into network infrastructure! Attach more computers to the network by simply plugging them into the wall anywhere in the house, using more PowerLine AV Adapters.

What Customers Say About Linksys PLE200 PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter:

I have no complaints and have had no technical problems using these. In my house wireless wasn't working too well so I needed another solution and this was it. I've been using these for a couple of years now. I love the fact that I can simply purchase another one, plug it into any spot in my house, and have instant ethernet capability.

So it may not be a good ideato use them in rooms that you will sleep in. After struggling with wireless for 5 years I couldn't believe that setting up a network could be this fastand easy.It took me longer to cook a bag of popcorn in the microwavethen it did me to get everything working.I only have been using it for 2 months but so far I haven't hadany problems with it.Now there is one bad point. The adapters have bright blue led lightsthat will illuminate a whole room.

I already have three of these working just fine, and need to add another node.brianb Oh well, I guess I will spring for a new in box one. I purchased a used item. The seller was very good to deal with, even sending me a replacement, which also did not work.

Even though their software and firmware update killed the machine. So if you buy these new or used, beware. And unlike the routers, there is no reset option. The unit is out of warranty. So Linksys said "Sorry Charlie". I'll keep this short and sweet. There is much truth to the firmware upgrade warnings posted here on Amazon. Two upgraded just fine. There were a few posts about the benefits upgrading the firmware, to make these units compatible with the current homeplug av stnndards.I tried updating three units. The third bricked.Dead as the parrot in the Monty Python sketch.

I use three of them to distribute a net across a very large home. So far they have never failed me. Note: I'm an EECS PhD and total geekI avoided powerline networking for years because I've heard it had problems. Sometimes I carry a couple of these with me when I travel so I can network up my in-laws house or a hotel room to get wired signal where I need it. The only time they seemed to have failed it turned out the unit was pulled mostly out of the socket (dogs or toddler issue).Speaking as an engineer, these are the ones you want. Then a friend tried the Linksys units and said they worked fine. They are a bit more expensive than some of the other units but they work so well it's hard to believe.
